The Vital Events Records Search Tool (VERST) is a simple and easy to use tool for the purposes of finding vital records that may exist as public records on the Internet. In many states, vital records are restricted to only certain individuals for a certain amount of time (which can differ depending on the state) before they become public records available for anyone to view. In recent years, some states and other organizations and individuals have begun to maintain these vital records online, in the form of searchable databases and indexes.

VERST is a compilation of these different resources, databases and official records archives put together for your convenience. To use VERST, simply select the desired record type from the selections above and you'll be presented with a search panel, listing all currently available resources. Although we've done our best to be complete, not all states are represented at present. Remember that VERST lists resources for vital records which have become public, meaning that in general, you won't be able to find information regarding events that occurred within the last 50 years.
