The Vital Records Office
maintains birth and death records that occurred in the state of
Georgia from 1919 onward, and maintains records of marriage from
1952-1996. No certified copies of divorce records are available
directly from the State Office, but an index of divorce events
is available for events that occurred from 1952 onwards. Georgia
law, as well as Department of Community Health regulation,
require those who request vital records to provide a signature
and copy of photo identification, along with the correct fee.

Access to certified copies of
birth records in the state of Georgia is restricted to the
person named on the certificate, parent or guardian,
grandparents, spouse, adult sibling, adult child, or authorized
agent.
Record Type: Death
| Dates: Since 1919 | Cost: $15.00
Death records aren't restricted
records in the state of Georgia and are available to the general
public, so long as they are over 18 years of age. Death records
can be obtained from the State Office, or directly from the
relevant County Office in the county where the event occurred.
Record Type: Marriage
| Dates: 1952-1996 | Cost: $10.00
Maintains records for events
occurring in the state of Georgia from 1952-1996. Marriage
records for marriages occurring before and after these dates
must be obtained directly from the Probate Court in the county
where the marriage license was issued.
Record Type: Divorce
| Dates: Since 1952 (Index Only) | Cost: $1.00
State Office can only perform a
search to verify the occurrence of a divorce within the
state of Georgia. They do not provide certified copies. These
must be obtained directly from the Clerk of the Superior Court
in the county where the divorce was granted.
