The Indiana State Department of
Health maintains birth and death records from 1907 and 1900,
respectively. Records can be obtained from the State Office, or
directly from the local health department in the county where
the event occurred. The State Office does not issue certified
copies of marriage and divorce records. These must be obtained
from the relevant Clerk of Court. When requesting vital records,
please make any checks payable to the Indiana State
Department of Health.
Record Type: Birth
| Dates: Since October 1907 | Cost: $10.00
Records prior to 1907 can be
obtained directly from the local health department in the county
where the event occurred. Processing time is generally 3-4
weeks. Records are restricted in the state of Indiana and can
only be obtained by certain individuals.
Record Type: Death
| Dates: Since 1900 | Cost: $8.00
Records prior to 1900 can be
obtained directly from the local health department in the county
where the event occurred. Processing time is generally 3-4
weeks. Records are restricted in the state of Indiana and can
only be obtained by certain individuals. For deaths occurring
from 1900 to 1917, the city and/or county of death is required
in order to locate the record.
