Most vital records can be
obtained by customers from the Center for Health Statistics
through their county's health department in half an hour or
less. Vital records can be issued through all 67 county health
departments using the automated Vital Statistics Image Oriented
Network. Vital records obtained through the mail may take 7-10

Record Type: Birth
| Dates: Since 1908 | Cost: $15.00
Restricted access from date of
birth for 125 years. Records can only be obtained by person
named on the certificate, parents or legal guardian, direct
relatives, or by a legal representative.
Record Type: Death
| Dates: Since 1908 | Cost: $15.00
Death records are sealed for 25
years. Death records less than 25 years ago may be obtained by
either parents, spouse, children, grandchildren or legal
representative of the person named on the certificate.
Record Type: Marriage
| Dates: Since 1936 | Cost: $15.00
Marriage records have no
restrictions and can be obtained by anyone. For marriages prior
to 1936, the information must be obtained from the probate
office in the county where the marriage license was issued.
Record Type: Divorce
| Dates: Since 1950 | Cost: $15.00
Divorce records have no
restrictions and can be obtained by anyone. For divorces prior
to 1950, the information must be obtained from the circuit court
in the county where the divorce was granted.
